HOW TO LIGHT HICKORY LUMP CHARCOAL

Lighting Instructions

We highly recommend starting your fire with a charcoal chimney. Fill the chimney with lump charcoal and place it over a firestarter, such as a Firelighting Square, or paper, such as the inner layers of this bag. Light the starter and let the coals burn until flames begin to come out of the top and the coals start to ash over. Then carefully dump the chimney and spread out the coals.

Tips:

Be sure the coals are ashed over before cooking.

Spread the coals, but be sure they are still touching.

Use the grill vents to control the temperature. Open them wide for more heat. Close them for less.
